United Kingdom Stuart Bennett, known professionally as Wade Barrett, has transitioned from a renowned WWE Superstar and five-time Intercontinental Champion to a globally recognized actor, television host, and commentator, offering audiences a unique blend of athleticism and charismatic presence.
Signed to WWE, where he performs under the ring name Wade Barrett as a colour commentator on the Raw brand, having previously been a wrestler. This partnership extends across various WWE brands including NXT and SmackDown.

Stuart Alexander Bennett was born on August 10, 1980, in Penwortham, England. He spent his early childhood in Preston before moving to Wales at age six. Bennett later earned a degree in Marine Biology from the University of Liverpool. Before his professional wrestling career, he engaged in bare-knuckle boxing across Europe, a period of his life that left him with a 12-inch scar and a disfigured nose, but also built a foundation of resilience and toughness. He began his professional wrestling journey in 2004 under the ring name Stu Sanders, competing in various independent promotions before signing with WWE in 2007.
Bennett’s career in WWE began in its developmental territories, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). In OVW, he won the Southern Tag Team Championship with Paul Burchill in 2008. After moving to FCW, he captured the Florida Tag Team Championship twice with Drew McIntyre. His breakthrough came in 2010 when he won the inaugural season of NXT, which led to his main roster debut and the formation of The Nexus, a dominant faction that significantly impacted WWE programming. He later led another group, The Corre, and went on to win the Intercontinental Championship five times, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in WWE. Beyond wrestling, Bennett has expanded his career into acting, starring in films like ‘I Am Vengeance’ (2018) and ‘I Am Vengeance: Retaliation’ (2020), for which he received a ‘Best Actor’ award at the 2017 Urban Action Awards.
Following his departure from WWE in 2016, Bennett worked in non-wrestling roles on the independent circuit, serving as a general manager for Defiant Wrestling and an executive and commentator for World of Sport Wrestling. He returned to WWE in 2020 as a commentator for NXT, later moving to SmackDown, then Raw, before moving back to SmackDown in 2024. He gained American citizenship in 2021, reflecting his long-term residency and contributions in the United States while maintaining close ties to his British heritage. His current role as a WWE commentator leverages his extensive knowledge and engaging personality, continuing his presence in sports entertainment.
