Suryakumar Yadav

Recognized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India with the MA Chidambaram Trophy as the Best Under-22 cricketer in 2011, Suryakumar Yadav established himself as a formidable talent in domestic cricket. He made his List A debut for Mumbai in February 2010, followed by his first-class and T20 debuts in December 2010. Yadav demonstrated early prowess, notably topping the scoring charts for Mumbai during the 2011–12 Ranji Trophy season, accumulating 754 runs from nine games at an impressive average of over 68. His consistent performance during this period underscored his potential as a prolific middle-order batter.

These consistent, high-impact performances across domestic and franchise cricket paved his way to the national team. Suryakumar Yadav made his T20 International (T20I) debut for India in March 2021, followed by his One Day International (ODI) debut in July 2021, swiftly becoming a vital player. While primarily focusing on limited-overs cricket for India, he also played his sole Test match in February 2023. His exceptional batting style and innovative stroke play gained significant international recognition, earning him the prestigious ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award in both 2022 and 2023, solidifying his status as one of the world’s leading T20I batters.

A prominent leader, Yadav was named captain of the Indian T20I team in November 2023 and re-appointed to the role in July 2024. Under his leadership and significant contributions as a player, India secured victory in the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup. He further led the team to triumph in the Asia Cup in both 2023 and 2025, underscoring his impact on the international stage. Known for his innovative approach and leadership in T20 Internationals, Suryakumar Yadav continues to be a cornerstone for India in the T20 International format.
