Susan Sarandon

Susan Sarandon earned her first Academy Award nomination for her compelling performance in Atlantic City (1980), marking an early highlight in a distinguished career spanning over five decades. Her professional journey began with her casting in the 1970 film Joe, followed by roles in soap operas such as A World Apart (1970–1971) and Search for Tomorrow (1972). Sarandon rose to prominence as Janet in the musical horror film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and later starred in films including Pretty Baby (1978) and The Hunger (1983). Her status as a leading actress was cemented with her career-defining role in Bull Durham (1988).

She was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1999, recognizing her humanitarian efforts. Her artistic contributions were celebrated with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Stockholm International Film Festival in 2009, and she was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2010.
