Sven Ruygrok

Sven Ruygrok, born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1991, established his acting career early, appearing in Kellogg’s commercials at age fifteen. He furthered his education by earning a diploma in dramatic arts from Beaulieu College in 2009. During his youth, Ruygrok was also a national gymnast, earning Junior National colors. However, a knee injury in his final year of high school led him to shift his focus from gymnastics. In 2010, while studying at the University of Cape Town, he secured the role of Rambo in the film franchise ‘Spud’, acting alongside John Cleese.

Ruygrok reprised his role as Robert “Rambo” Black in the sequels ‘Spud 2: The Madness Continues’ (2013) and ‘Spud 3: Learning to Fly’ (2014). His film credits also include ‘Zulu’ (2013) with Orlando Bloom, ‘Alien Outpost’ (2014), ‘A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits’ (2016), ‘Bring It On: Worldwide Cheersmack’ (2017), ‘The Empty Man’ (2020), and ‘Eraser: Reborn’ (2022). In television, he had a recurring role as G-Dog in ‘Beaver Falls’ (2011–2012) and appeared in ‘Pulse’ (2022) as Dom. More recently, he featured as Cabaji in Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ (2023) and played Fuzz in the television film ‘Star Trek: Section 31’ (2025). He also appeared in ‘Warrior’ (2023) as Carter, ‘Theodore Roosevelt’ (2022) as Kermit Roosevelt, and ‘Abraham Lincoln’ (2022) as George McClellan.

Beyond acting, Ruygrok has expanded his career as an inspirational speaker and life coach based in Cape Town, with a particular focus on adolescents aged 13-19. He addresses topics such as bullying and cyberbullying, aiming to help young people lead fulfilling lives. His diverse career showcases his commitment to both artistic expression and personal development, bridging his experiences as a performer with his work as a mentor.
