Sydney Mclaughlin

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is an Olympic gold medalist and world record holder in track and field, excelling in the 400-meter hurdles and 400-meter sprint. After qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone demonstrated elite potential in track and field, competing in the semi-finals of the 400-meter hurdles. Following a year at the University of Kentucky, McLaughlin-Levrone turned professional in June 2018, signing an endorsement deal with New Balance in October of the same year. Her transition to professional athletics quickly led to record-breaking performances, solidifying her status as a formidable competitor in both the 400-meter hurdles and 400-meter sprint.

Her exceptional achievements were also recognized when the track at Columbia Park was named in her honor on August 28, 2021. In 2025, McLaughlin-Levrone continued to excel, winning the 400m at the World Athletics Championships with a championship record of 47.78 seconds and securing another gold medal with the 4x400m relay team.
