Talor Keith Gooch was born on November 14, 1991, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He developed his golf skills early, even drawing attention for his talent at age six. His collegiate career at Oklahoma State University prepared him for professional golf, which he turned to in 2014. Gooch’s father, Ron Gooch, had a background in professional baseball, playing for the Texas Rangers organization in the minor leagues.
His professional path began on the PGA Tour Canada in 2015 and 2016, where he secured a second-place finish at the 2015 Syncrude Boreal Open. In December 2016, Gooch’s performance at the Web.com Tour qualifying tournament, where he tied for 23rd, earned him a spot on the Web.com Tour for the 2017 season. A significant milestone occurred in August 2017 when he won the News Sentinel Open. This victory propelled him to finish sixth on the regular season money list, securing his PGA Tour card. On the PGA Tour, he maintained conditional status in 2017–18, making 12 cuts in 27 events, with a best finish of T13 at the Wells Fargo Championship. He continued to build his career with two top-5 finishes early in the 2018–19 season, ultimately finishing 101st on the FedEx Cup points list.
A career highlight for Gooch came in November 2021 when he won his first PGA Tour event, the RSM Classic, in Sea Island, Georgia. He finished with a final round of 6-under-par 64, winning by three strokes. In May 2022, Gooch joined the LIV Golf Invitational Series, where he has achieved considerable success. He finished 9th at LIV Golf London, earning $580,000. In April 2023, he secured his first LIV event victory at LIV Golf Adelaide, followed by another win at LIV Golf Singapore just one week later. In July 2023, Gooch continued his winning streak with a third LIV event victory at LIV Golf Andalucía. He concluded the 2023 LIV Golf League season by winning the individual points race, earning an $18 million bonus.
