Taru Lahti-Liukkonen is a Finnish professional beach volleyball player under the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League where she dominates the sand with her esteemed partner Anniina Parkkinen. Lahti made her professional debut at the 2006 Turku Satellite tournament stop, ranking 13th as a youth beach volleyballer at the astonishing age of 15. She played alongside Jennamiia Ripatti, Sini Häkkinen, and Kirsi Hyttinen. The legendary Riikka Lehtonen later became her partner for most of her career and toured together starting in the early 2014 season up until the end of the 2016-2017 season.
Together they ranked first in many international tournaments such as the 2014 Confédération Européenne de Volleyball [CEV] Continental Cup, 2014 CEV Satellite Vaduz / Women’s, and the 2015 CEV Continental Cup. In 2012 Lahti became the third Finnish player to win a match on a beach volleyball world tour. Lahti-Liukkonen and Lehtonen later placed second among 24 couples at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics qualifications. In 2017 the pair climbed to the top at the World Championship tournament in Vienna AUT.
Lahti-Liukkonen later switched teammates with Anniina Parkkinen for the beginning of the 2017-2018 season and has been her partner ever since. Together the pair competed in many 4-star events across the globe until recently where they participated in the late 2019 CEV European Championships. They later made it to the 2019 Rome World Tour Finals and participated in the Olympic Qualification Tournament in China.
