Born on April 5, 2000, in Sterzing, Italy, Tommaso Giacomel embarked on his biathlon career at a young age, quickly establishing himself as a notable talent. He made his international biathlon debut on December 9, 2017, at the Biathlon Junior World Cup in Obertilliach, where he secured a 5th-place finish in the Junior Men 10 km Sprint.
Giacomel’s career progressed through junior and youth competitions, earning a silver medal in the Sprint at the 2018 Biathlon Junior World Championships in the Youth category, and a bronze in the Men’s relay at the 2019 Biathlon Junior World Championships. His first international gold medal came in the Biathlon Junior World Cup in Martell-Val Martello, winning the Pursuit event. He made his Biathlon World Cup debut in 2020 in Nové Město na Moravě, finishing 27th, and later represented Italy at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Throughout his senior career, Giacomel has achieved multiple podium finishes, including a 2nd place in the Individual at the 2022–23 World Cup in Östersund, and a 1st place in the Mass Start at the 2024–25 World Cup in Ruhpolding. He has also secured silver medals at the Biathlon World Championships in the Mixed Relay (2023 Oberhof), Single Mixed Relay (2024 Nové Město), and 20 km individual (2025 Lenzerheide), alongside a bronze in the Single Mixed Relay (2023 Oberhof).
