About

Todd Benjamin Heap was born on March 16, 1980, in Mesa, Arizona. He attended Mountain View High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. Heap led Mountain View to back-to-back football state championships in 1996 and 1997, maintaining an undefeated record in both seasons. He set school records for career receiving yards (1,377), career receptions (87), and career touchdown receptions. His high school performance earned him Arizona All-Star honors, Super All-State recognition, and the Arizona 5A Player of the Year award.

Heap continued his football career at Arizona State University, majoring in pre-business. As a college player, he broke the school record for tight end receptions with 115. In 1999, he recorded 55 catches for 832 yards and three touchdowns, followed by 45 catches for 617 yards and three touchdowns in 2000. This collegiate success led to his selection by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round (31st overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft.

Heap played ten seasons for the Baltimore Ravens from 2001 to 2010, becoming the franchise’s all-time leader in touchdown catches and ranking second in receptions and receiving yards. He earned two Pro Bowl selections in 2002 and 2003, and was recognized as second-team All-Pro in 2003. After his tenure with the Ravens, he played two seasons for the Arizona Cardinals in 2011 and 2012. Following his retirement from professional football in 2013, Heap was inducted into the Baltimore Ravens Ring of Honor in 2014. He later joined the Ravens’ radio broadcast crew as a color analyst in 2017.
