Veteran American actor Tony Amendola is best known for his roles as Bra’tac in Stargate SG-1, Gepetto in Once Upon a Time, and Liber8 in the Canadian sci-fi series, Continuum. Among his many film credits are Father Perez in the majorly successful 2014 horror film, Annabelle, and different roles in both The Mask of Zorro and The Legend of Zorro. He is also a noted voice actor, with major projects including voicing Archmage Khadgar in no fewer than five World of Warcraft video games. His most recent triumphs include a part in the acclaimed 2022 mini-series, Black Bird.
Amendola was originally headed towards a career in law, but his passion for acting won out, and after graduating from college, he moved to Los Angeles to break into the industry. However, he was in his thirties before his film and TV career began in earnest, and he spent the late 1980s and early 1990s making one-off appearances in shows such as Columbo, L.A. Law, and Seinfeld. In 1997, he deservedly won his big break when he was cast as Bra’tac, the Jaffa master in the highly popular sci-fi series, Stargate SG-1.
Since then, like a fine wine, Amendola’s career has continued to mature, with a diverse mix of film and television and voice roles; guest appearances and starring roles. He has played prime ministers and priests, historical figures and fantasy characters — and he continues to do so. The enthusiastic reviews afforded to recent work such as Black Bird also show that he is still as much of an acting force as ever he was.
