Tony Way

Tony Way was born on October 7, 1978, in Rochford, Essex, England, and grew up in Wickford. His career in comedy and acting began at the age of 17 when he, along with Rhys Thomas, Stephen Burge, and Glynne Wiley, formed the sketch group Stay Alive Pepi. Their comedy videos caught the attention of Bob Mortimer and Charlie Higson, leading to Way’s first television appearances in “The Fast Show” and “Bang, Bang, It’s Reeves and Mortimer.” This early exposure laid the groundwork for a prolific career, with Way contributing as both writer and performer to numerous British comedy shows, including “Blunder,” “Mongrels,” “Extras,” “Spaced,” and “Tittybangbang.” He also developed his skills in writing for television with credits on shows like “Sorry, I’ve Got No Head” (2011), “The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson” (2009), and “Crackanory” (2014-2017).

Way successfully transitioned into dramatic roles, gaining recognition for his performances in high-profile films and television series. He appeared as Plague in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (2011), Dontos Hollard in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” (2012-2014), and Thomas Nashe in “Anonymous” (2011). His filmography also includes “Ali G Indahouse” (2002), “Finding Neverland” (2004), “Sightseers” (2012), “Edge of Tomorrow” (2014) alongside Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, “High-Rise” (2015), and “The Riot Club” (2014). On television, Way has played significant roles such as Lenny in Ricky Gervais’s “After Life” (2019–2022) across 18 episodes, Jon the News in “Dodger” (2022-2023) for 11 episodes, and various characters in “Murder in Successville” (2015).

Beyond acting, Way has continued his involvement in writing and directing. He directed an episode of “Peeder Jigson’s Video Diary” in 2011 and has written for various television specials and series. Since 2013, he has played Terry in the BBC Radio 4 sitcom “Seekers.” Way also collaborates with Rhys Thomas on the “Thomas and Way Podcast.” Upcoming projects include roles in “Stargazers,” “Savage House,” and the animated series “Alley Cats.” His diverse contributions to British comedy and drama underscore his versatility across different mediums and genres.
