Urwa Hocane

Urwa Hocane, born UrwaTul Wusqua Hussain on July 2, 1991, in Karachi, Pakistan, grew up in Islamabad where she completed her education at Bahria College. She began her career as a theater artist during her teenage years before transitioning to a VJ for ARY Musik. Her younger sister, Mawra Hocane, is also a television actress, and Urwa adopted the surname ‘Hocane’ early in her career in a show of filial support. This period established her initial public presence and laid the groundwork for her acting career.

Hocane made her acting debut in 2012 with a leading role in the romantic drama “Meri Ladli” alongside Ahsan Khan and Sajal Ali. She subsequently appeared in various television serials such as “Kahi Un Kahi” and “Madiha Maliha.” Her film debut occurred in 2014 with the romantic comedy “Na Maloom Afraad,” where she starred opposite Fahad Mustafa, Mohsin Abbas Haider, and Javed Sheikh. The film and her performance garnered positive reviews. She continued her film career with roles in “Punjab Nahi Jaungi” (2017) and “Na Maloom Afraad 2” (2017). In 2019, she expanded her professional scope by launching her clothing line, UXM, in collaboration with her sister Mawra Hocane. That same year, she announced her first project as a producer, the romantic film “Tich Button,” which she co-produced with her husband, Farhan Saeed, and which was released in 2022.

Throughout her career, Hocane has been recognized for her work. She received a Hum Award for Best On-screen Couple (with Farhan Saeed) and a nomination for Best Actress Popular for her role as Meera in the 2016 television series “Udaari.” In 2018, she won a Lux Style Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Punjab Nahi Jaungi.” Her role as Guddi in the 2020 TV series “Mushk” earned her a Lux Style Award for Best Actress Critics nomination. Her diverse roles in television and film, coupled with her venture into production and fashion, demonstrate her multifaceted engagement within the entertainment and media industries.
