Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen

Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen was born on May 12, 1992, in Geilo, Norway. He began his biathlon career with early success, securing seven medals at the IBU Youth Junior Championships in 2010 and 2011. These achievements led to his initial participation in BMW IBU World Cup events, alongside periods on the IBU Cup circuit. The 2017/18 season marked a significant turning point in Christiansen’s career, where he distinguished himself on the IBU Cup circuit. He achieved three individual victories and consistently demonstrated accurate shooting, culminating in winning the IBU Cup Total Score. This performance resulted in his permanent return to the Norwegian A team and the World Cup circuit.

Following his return to the BMW IBU World Cup, Christiansen’s career progressed further. In 2019, during a North American tour, he secured three podium finishes: a second-place in the Canmore short individual and Soldier Hollow pursuit, along with his first World Cup victory in the Soldier Hollow sprint. This win was a notable milestone after years of dedication to the sport. Christiansen’s precision in shooting and competitive approach have made him integral to Norway’s relay team successes. His record includes seventeen relay podiums, ten of which were victories, and four mixed relay podiums, with one win. Leading into the 2021/22 season, he demonstrated strong form by winning every domestic rollerski competition in Norway, excelling in both range performance and skiing.
