Waleed Al Farraj

Waleed Al Farraj was born in Alkhobar, Eastern Province, in 1969. He pursued academic studies, earning a diploma in commerce and undertaking specialized journalism and TV production courses in Egypt. His career in journalism commenced in 1985, focusing on sports. He served as the deputy managing editor of the sports pages at Al-Yaum newspaper in Dammam and later co-founded and became the deputy editor of The Saudi Sports Journal, roles he held until 2003. Throughout this period, Al Farraj established himself as a respected voice in Saudi sports media.

Al Farraj’s television career began in 1998, extending through 2011. He was the executive producer for the broadcast of the Saudi League for five years, overseeing technical and artistic direction for major regional channels including ART Sport, Abu Dhabi, Al Jazeera Sport, and Line Sport. As a presenter, he became known for his bold and often controversial commentary. Notably, he provided football commentary during the 2002 FIFA World Cup for ART Sport and covered the national team’s participation in the 2006 World Cup. His ability to engage audiences and provide direct analysis cemented his reputation.

In 2011, Al Farraj joined MBC Group as a sports presenter on MBC Action, where he currently hosts Action Ya Dawry, a daily program covering highlights of the Saudi football league. His influence extends beyond television; he was voted “Most Popular Saudi Presenter” in 2009 and 2011 by the Arabic Al Hayat newspaper. He is recognized as a “trendsetter in Saudi sports and society,” maintaining a substantial following on social media. Additionally, he serves as the general manager of a company specializing in internet services and is the general manager of the Saudi Dallah Group, demonstrating his diverse professional engagement.
