About

David Ramirez was born in Houston, Texas, on August 26, 1983. He chose to leave college to pursue a career in music. In 2009, he self-released his first full-length album, “American Soil.” This was followed by his second self-released album, “Apologies,” in 2012. His subsequent four albums were released through Thirty Tigers, marking a significant step in his career progression. Ramirez continued to develop his distinctive musical style, which blends Americana, blues, country folk, contemporary folk, gospel, and indie folk.

Ramirez’s work often explores themes of sorrow, moral tribulation, love, and redemption, delivered with his deep and resonant baritone vocal style. His 2015 album, “Fables,” recorded in Seattle and produced by Noah Gundersen, received critical acclaim. He further expanded his discography with “We’re Not Going Anywhere” (2017), produced by Sam Kassirer, and “My Love is a Hurricane” (2020), which showcased a wider range of musical styles. In recognition of his songwriting, Ramirez was awarded ‘Songwriter of the Year’ by The Austin Chronicle in 2020. He also ventured into supergroup collaborations, notably with Glorietta in 2018. His career trajectory has demonstrated a consistent evolution, with each album offering new dimensions to his artistic expression.

In 2021, Ramirez signed with Red 11 Music, a significant move for his representation and touring opportunities. That same year, he released “Backslider,” a gospel album, showcasing his versatility. His latest album, “All The Not So Gentle Reminders,” released in 2025, represents a period of artistic contemplation and personal growth following a hiatus from songwriting. The album features expansive, dreamlike songs and marks his first time incorporating prominent string arrangements, adding new depth to his sound. He continues to create music guided by personal joy rather than external pressures, reflecting on his journey from a boy listening to a Walkman to a full-time touring musician.
