Wannes Van Laer is a Belgian professional sailor known for his participation in multiple Olympic Games and consistent performance in international Laser class competitions. After securing a gold medal in the Optimist World Championship (U13) in South Africa in 1996, Wannes Van Laer went on to establish himself as a consistent performer in international sailing. His early career saw further success with a bronze medal at the Ponant European Championship in France in 1999 and a 7th place finish at the Europe European Championship in Spain in 2000.
