In just under four years, Wes Nelson has risen out of nowhere to become one of reality television’s most popular personalities. Since finishing fourth on the fourth series of Love Island in 2018, he has gone from strength to strength, appearing on Dancing on Ice, Celebrity X Factor, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and many other popular shows. He has also embarked on a successful pop career, signing with EMI and enjoying a UK top-three hit with ‘See Nobody’ in 2020. He has taken his musical success into the live arena and will be supporting Noughties hip-hop stars N-Dubz on their sell-out UK arena tour late in 2022. He is immensely popular on social media and can boast over 1.5 million Instagram followers and well over 800,000 TikTok followers. His content on the latter platform has been liked almost 8 million times.
Nelson hails from the generally unassuming town of Newcastle-Under-Lyme in Staffordshire where he was born in 1998. As he turned 20, he applied for ITV’s Love Island, a reality dating show that has become cult guilty-pleasure viewing for millions of Brits. He joined the cast and first hooked up with Laura Anderson before hooking up with Megan Barton instead. The pair eventually finished fourth, having lasted 59 days on the island.
Since then, Nelson has rarely been away from our screens — and, more recently, our stereos. The success of his 2020 debut single was followed by a collab with Clean Bandit, ‘Drive’, and two further singles, Nice to Meet Ya (a top-five hit in Germany), and ‘Say Nothing’.
