Wrekonize

Benjamin Miller, known as Wrekonize, was born in London on May 5, 1983, and later raised in Miami, Florida, from 1988. His early exposure to music was influenced by his parents, who were local musicians. At age 11, a meeting with MC Guru inspired his interest in music. By age 13, he adopted the name “Wrekonize” after seeing it in a graffiti art book, aiming for his moniker to reflect an observant and alert presence. His career began in the early 2000s as a battle rapper.

Wrekonize achieved early recognition by winning the MTV Battle II: The Takeover in Times Square competition in 2003, outperforming ten other rappers. Despite a promised record deal with Roc-A-Fella Records that did not materialize, he signed with SouthBeat Records. There, he released his mixtape, “The Waiting Room,” which gained traction on DatPiff. He followed this with the self-produced “Elevator Music.” During this period, he also began collaborating with the Miami-based hip-hop band ¡MAYDAY!, eventually joining them as a full-time vocalist. After Strange Music signed ¡MAYDAY! in 2011, Wrekonize released several albums with the band and continued his solo work under the label until 2022. He has since continued his career signed to Mayday Music.

Throughout his career, Wrekonize has demonstrated consistent output both as a solo artist and as a member of ¡MAYDAY!. His solo studio albums include “A Soiree For Skeptics” (2010), “The War Within” (2013), “Into the Further” (2017), and “Pressure Point” (2020). With ¡MAYDAY!, he released “Stuck on an Island” (2010), “Take Me to Your Leader” (2012), “Believers” (2013), “¡MursDay!” (2014, with Murs), “Future Vintage” (2015), “Search Party” (2017), “South of 5th” (2018), “Minute to Midnight” (2021), and “Justus” (2025). He has a certification as a Gold Recording Artist and is recognized for his contributions as a vocalist and producer.
