Rory Cha, known professionally as Yaadcore, was born in 1989 in Jamaica. He began his career as a DJ at the age of 14 in 2003, influenced by his father, who also operated a sound system called Love People International. Yaadcore became known for playing spiritually healing, organic reggae music, and initially gained recognition for being the first to play music by artists like Kabaka Pyramid and Chronixx on Jamaican radio. His early career also involved touring as the resident DJ for reggae artist Protoje.
Yaadcore is a co-founder of Dubwise Jamaica, a reggae sound system. This initiative started as a weekly event in Kingston and has since expanded internationally, with iterations in Miami, Washington D.C., Atlanta, New York, California, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, Bermuda, Hungary, Romania, Malta, Germany, Kenya, and Ethiopia. Through Dubwise Jamaica, he curated a platform for reggae music. He also co-founded the reggae record label 12 Yaad Records.
His career progressed with the release of his debut album, “Reggaeland,” in 2022 under his own label, solidifying his role as a recording artist. Yaadcore has performed at various events in Jamaica and internationally, and his online presence includes globally acclaimed mixes on SoundCloud, such as the “Reggae Aroma’s Volume 1-3” series, Protoje mixtapes, and a collaboration with VP Records.
