Yat Siu

Yat Siu is a veteran technology entrepreneur and investor who co-founded Animoca Brands, a leader in blockchain and gaming, aiming to provide property rights for virtual assets. After establishing Cybercity in Hong Kong in 1996 as an internet and email provider, Yat Siu went on to lead the company’s transformation into Freenation, which gained recognition as Asia’s first free web page and email service. His professional career initially began at Atari Germany, followed by roles as a director and head of East Coast Operations for Lexicor and AT&T Solutions System Integration practice. In 1998, Siu founded Outblaze, a pioneering entity in multilingual white-label web services, solidifying his early impact in the burgeoning internet industry.

Siu continued to expand his entrepreneurial ventures, leading to a significant transaction in 2009 when he sold a portion of Outblaze’s business to IBM’s Lotus Software Division. This pivotal sale resulted in IBM establishing its first cloud computing laboratory in Hong Kong, a testament to Siu’s strategic vision. Following this, he transitioned Outblaze to concentrate on incubating innovative digital entertainment projects. This strategic shift ultimately led to the co-founding of Animoca Brands, a venture that would redefine the digital landscape.

Further solidifying his impact on the digital economy, Siu was appointed to the Task Force on Promoting Web3 Development by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2023. In addition to his leadership at Animoca Brands, he serves as a director at the Dalton Foundation, which oversees Dalton School Hong Kong, demonstrating his commitment to education and societal development. Yat Siu remains a key figure driving innovation at the intersection of technology, gaming, and blockchain.
