Olympic gold medalist and record-setter in the 200-meter breaststroke, Zac Stubblety-Cook is competitive swimmer from Australia. At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, he won his gold medal and also participated in the breaststroke leg of the mixed 4×100-meter relay, when Australia took third place and a bronze medal. At Brisbane, Queensland’s Chandler Aquatic Centre, he is coached by Vince Raleigh.
Stubblety-Cook joined because he wanted to take part in the swim programme for general water safety. After that, he participated in the 200m breaststroke preliminary round. He first competed in the men’s 200 metre breaststroke at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships after competing in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. At the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo, he captured a silver medal, his first ever international medal, in the 200-meter breaststroke. At the 2021 Australian Swimming National Championships, he showed off his talent once more by winning two national titles in the 100- and 200-meter breaststrokes.
The Medal of the Order of Australia was given to Stubblety-Cook in the 2022 Australia Day Honours. He qualified for the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke events at the 2022 Australian Swimming Championships, which were held in Adelaide in May. In the 200-meter breaststroke final, he set a new world record with a time of 2:05.95, shattering the previous mark of 2:06.12 set by Anton Chupkov of Russia in 2019.
