Born on February 12, 1986, in Whitby, Ontario, Zack Greer began his lacrosse career at a young age, playing box lacrosse with the Whitby Warriors and field lacrosse with the Oshawa Blue Knights. He also participated in hockey during his youth. His junior box lacrosse career with the Whitby Warriors included receiving the Joey Nieuwendyk Award as Rookie of the Year in 2002 and the Dean McLeod Award for Playoff MVP in 2004. In 2003, he represented Canada at the International Lacrosse Federation Under-19 World Championships, scoring 16 goals, adding one assist, and earning a spot on the ILF All-World Team, contributing to Canada’s advancement to the championship game.
Greer attended Duke University on a lacrosse scholarship, where he became a highly decorated collegiate player. He was a three-time All-American, including two first-team selections. He set NCAA and university records for career goals and was awarded the Jack Turnbull Award as the USILA Attackman of the Year in 2008. Following his graduation from Duke, Greer pursued an MBA degree at Bryant University, utilizing a rare fifth year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the cancellation of Duke’s 2006 season. While at Bryant in 2009, he recorded 42 goals and 26 assists, though these statistics are not officially recognized in NCAA Division I records.
Zack Greer commenced his professional lacrosse career in 2009, being drafted third overall in both the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and National Lacrosse League (NLL) drafts. He played for multiple teams in both leagues, including the Long Island Lizards, Denver Outlaws, and Dallas Rattlers in the MLL, winning an MLL championship with the Denver Outlaws in 2014. In the NLL, he played for the Minnesota Swarm, Edmonton Rush, Saskatchewan Rush, Colorado Mammoth, San Diego Seals, and Las Vegas Desert Dogs. He secured back-to-back NLL championships with Edmonton and Saskatchewan in 2015 and 2016. On the international stage, Greer earned a silver medal at the U-19 World Field Lacrosse Championships in 2003, and gold medals with Team Canada at the 2014 World Lacrosse Championship and the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. Beyond his athletic achievements, Greer has developed a career as an investor and marketing professional in the sports and entertainment industry.
