Zoe Badwi

Zoe Badwi was born on May 4, 1986, in Germany, later moving to Melbourne, Australia, where she was raised. She has a diverse background, being half Irish, one-quarter Egyptian, and one-quarter Saudi Arabian. Before her music career began, Badwi worked as a model, appearing in television commercials for brands such as Telstra and Mars Bars. Her acting debut was in the Australian drama series ‘Raw FM’, where she participated for eight months. In 2001, she became a member of the Australian girl group Sirens, which achieved minor success with singles like “Like Fire, Like Rain” and a cover of The Pointer Sisters’ “I’m So Excited”. Badwi subsequently left the group to pursue a solo career.

Her solo career gained momentum after being discovered by Grant Smillie of TV Rock in Melbourne. She signed with Neon Records and released her debut solo single, “Release Me,” in November 2008, which reached number one on the ARIA Clubs Chart. This led to two award nominations, including “Best Dance Release” at the 2009 ARIA Music Awards and “Dance Work of the Year” at the 2010 APRA Awards. In July 2010, Badwi’s fourth single, “Freefallin’,” peaked at number nine on the ARIA Singles Chart and was certified platinum. She signed with the US record label Atlantic Records in September 2010. Her self-titled debut album, “Zoë,” was released on August 5, 2011, and reached number 35 on the ARIA Charts. In 2017, she supported Little Mix during their Glory Days Tour in Australia and New Zealand. Most recently, in 2020, she collaborated with Greg Gould on the song “Crush” from his album “1998”.
