Zora Stephenson is an Emmy-winning journalist who recently joined the Milwaukee Bucks as the team’s official sideline reporter. Now that she’s debuted on the “Bucks Town Hall Show,” she can be seen on both FOX Sports Wisconsin and Bucks.com.
A basketball player, herself, Stephenson played over 120 games with Elon University, making the NCAA division one team four years in a row. During her time on the team, she had the highest percentage for 3-pointers in a single season, establishing a school record.
Stephenson’s basketball expertise combined with her journalism studies made her an ideal candidate for sportscasting. In fact, her first internship was with NBC Washington, learning from their award-winning sports department. Following graduation, she landed her first reporting gig with North Carolina’s local channel, WNCT-TV. In one year, she was already working top stories like Hurricane Matthew and the Presidential Election, leading her to be named “Reporter of the Year” by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.
Next, Stephenson moved to Colorado to join both FOX31 and Colorado’s Own Channel 2, both as a reporter and a news anchor for their Saturday Morning breakfast program, Daybreak. Her success on these programs led her to be recognized by the Emmy Awards. Meanwhile, she was also working in association with the Metropolitan State University of Denver as a broadcast analyst, play-by-play announcer, host, and sideline reporter; her coverage even extended to both the Colonial Athletic Association and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s basketball championships.
Now, the Bucks are happy to have her, with the Fiserv Forum President calling her a “great addition.” Lastly, she’s a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
