Boiler Room celebrated 20 years of UK garage in South London this weekend, with Dubstep pioneer El-B stealing the show.
Boiler Room’s celebration of UK Garage’s two-decade milestone has been ongoing throughout December, but this weekend it reached its apex with a major party in South London featuring many of the genre’s leading lights and veterans.
On the bill with El-B were So Solid Crew, Godfathers of Garage, Foundation, Heartless Crew, Nay Nay, Elisabeth Troy and many more. El-B’s expert set was an uplifting celebration of UK garage, without losing sight of the genre’s integral edge. For the set, El-B was accompanied by MC Rolla Esco on the mic, who hyped the crowd to great effect. The entire club night is available to stream now, with El-B’s set beginning 50 minutes into the video.

No celebration of UKG could have been complete without El-B. After establishing himself in the 2-step scene as half of Groove Chronicles, El-B founded Ghost Recordings and released music by a number of artists, often going by the mysterious name ‘Ghost’.
For El-B, the UKG celebrations last all year round. The DJ has played sets all over the UK and Europe, proving that 20 years in, garage still has a whole lot to give.
