Alexis Taylor

Having co-founded the acclaimed synth-pop band Hot Chip in the early 2000s alongside Joe Goddard, Alexis Taylor established himself as a prominent musician, songwriter, and producer in electronic music. As the lead vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist for Hot Chip, Taylor contributed to their early success, notably with their second album, ‘The Warning,’ which garnered significant recognition. Demonstrating a drive for diversified musical expression, Taylor released his debut solo album, ‘Rubbed Out,’ in 2008. The same year, he further expanded his artistic endeavors by co-founding the improvisational quartet About Group, featuring John Coxon, Pat Thomas, and Charles Hayward, exploring new genres and collaborative formats.

Continuing his consistent artistic output, Taylor released the album ‘Silence’ in 2021, preceded by several singles. Beyond his solo and Hot Chip projects, Taylor has actively sought unique collaborations, forming the duo Fainting By Numbers with Cologne house producer Justus Köhncke. He has also collaborated with Green Gartside of Scritti Politti, and worked with various visual artists, underscoring his versatile approach to music and art. His work as a producer extends across his own projects and contributions to other artists.

In 2023, Taylor unveiled his latest solo work with the single ‘Wedding Song (Palace)’, showcasing his ongoing evolution as a solo artist. As the enduring frontman and creative force behind Hot Chip, and with a robust catalog of solo and collaborative releases, Alexis Taylor remains a highly respected and active figure, recognized for his distinctive contributions to the electronic and synth-pop landscape, consistently delivering original material and pioneering new musical pathways.
