About

Dragan Roganović, professionally known as Dirty South, was born on November 15, 1978, in Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia. At the age of 13, he relocated to Melbourne, Australia, where he began his musical journey. He started by experimenting with home audio equipment and creating bootlegs and mashups. This initial experimentation led him to acquire a computer, software, and a keyboard, which facilitated his first official production in 2004 under the name Dirty South. His early work gained attention, leading to a contract with Australian record label Vicious Vinyl in 2005.

Following his signing, Dirty South received recognition for his work, including two ARIA nominations for “Best Dance Release” in 2005 and 2006. In 2007, he was voted “Most Popular Producer Nationally” in the InTheMix 50 DJ Poll and achieved a number one position in the Australian Club Charts with his remix of “It’s Too Late” by Evermore. He was also the first Australian artist since 1999 to receive one of Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune awards. His career progression includes consistent rankings in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ poll every year since 2007.

Dirty South continued to collaborate and produce notable tracks. In 2007, he teamed up with Paul Harris to produce “Better Day,” which received airplay from Pete Tong. He also remixed songs for other artists and released his single “Let It Go” on Axwell’s record label Axtone the same year. A significant milestone was his track “Phazing” featuring Rudy, which became a top seller on Beatport in 2010. He received two Grammy Award nominations: one for his remix of Kaskade’s “Sorry” in 2008 and another in 2011 for a remix of The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” with Axwell. His collaborations extend to artists like Snoop Dogg, The Pussycat Dolls, U2, David Guetta, and Sebastian Ingrosso. In 2012, his single “City of Dreams” with Alesso and Ruben Haze reached number one on the Beatport Top 100, followed by a North American tour.
