Global Roots is a multi-platform brand and music residency, founded by Thristian, dedicated to showcasing experimental and underground music from around the globe. After co-founding Boiler Room, an early online broadcasting platform that became prominent in global music culture, Thristian established himself as a selector with a significant presence in the music scene. He further contributed to influential platforms such as NTS and Channel 4, before collaborating with legendary DJ Gilles Peterson to create Worldwide FM. It was during this period that Thristian introduced the Global Roots concept, which began as a celebrated club night at Plastic People in London, laying the foundation for his acclaimed multi-platform brand.
Since 2019, Thristian has been responsible for programming the music for Tate Modern Lates, a prestigious ongoing residency that has featured an array of acclaimed performers including Yasmin Lacey, Femi Koleoso of Ezra Collective, Tyson, Laurel Halo, and Actress, captivating audiences in the iconic Turbine Hall. Demonstrating his continuous presence in broadcast, Global Roots Radio continues its weekly transmissions on London’s Rinse.FM, solidifying its reputation as a crucial outlet for experimental and diverse sounds. Through his pioneering work with Boiler Room, his leadership at Worldwide FM, and the continuous expansion of the Global Roots brand, Thristian remains at the forefront of global music curation. His unwavering dedication to discovering and showcasing innovative artists and sounds ensures Global Roots sustained impact across radio, live events, and cultural programming, positioning him as a leading tastemaker in the international music landscape.
