Iraina Mancini was born in London, England, in 1989. Her early life was influenced by her father, Warren Peace, a childhood friend of David Bowie, who contributed to Bowie’s albums and tours, fostering Mancini’s connection to music. Her career began with an electronic pop group, Mancini, which appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Mobile Act Unsigned’. Following the group’s disbandment, she moved to Liverpool and formed The Venus Fury with former members of The Zutons and The Dead 60s, further developing her musical foundation. This period laid the groundwork for her diverse career, integrating influences from Northern Soul, Funk, 60s Garage, and Rhythm and Blues, inspired by her father’s record collection.
Mancini expanded her career as a DJ, performing across various international music and film festivals, including Cannes Lion, NME Awards, Toronto Film Festival, Glastonbury, Wilderness, Bestival, and Secret Garden Party. Her DJ sets are known for featuring genres such as Northern soul, early rhythm and blues, ska, funk, garage rock, and Latin boogaloo. Concurrently, she developed her skills as a singer/songwriter, drawing inspiration from 60s and 70s French Pop, Psychedelia, Ye-Ye Girls, and Vintage cinema. She has also presented a monthly radio show on Soho Radio, showcasing her musical expertise and eclectic tastes to a broader audience.
In 2020, Iraina Mancini provided vocals for “The War,” a single by electronic musicians BT and Matt Fax, featured on the album “The Lost Art of Longing.” Her solo music career gained momentum in 2021 with singles “Shotgun,” “Deep End,” and “Do It (You stole the Rhythm),” which received significant airplay on BBC 6 Music and Radio 2, earning support from prominent radio hosts like Lauren Laverne, Jo Whiley, and Chris Hawkins. In 2022, she released “Undo the Blue,” produced by Jagz Kooner, followed by her debut album, “Undo the Blue,” on Needle Mythology Records in August 2023. “Sugar High,” a single from the album, was remixed by the band Saint Etienne in September 2023, highlighting her contemporary relevance and appeal.
