Issues, an American metalcore band, blended diverse genres to achieve critical acclaim and built a dedicated fanbase before their disbandment in 2024.
Issues was an American metalcore band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2012. The band quickly garnered attention for its distinctive sound, which incorporated elements of metalcore, nu metal, pop, and contemporary R&B. This unique fusion earned them a reputation for genre-bending music, often described as “nu metalcore” or “R&Bcore.” Their early career saw the release of their debut EP, “Black Diamonds,” in 2012, and their self-titled debut studio album in 2014, which charted at number-nine on the US Billboard 200. The band consistently evolved its sound and lineup throughout its active years, releasing subsequent albums and EPs that continued to explore their diverse musical influences.
Key milestones for Issues include winning the Alternative Press Music Award for Artist of the Year in 2015 and Best Bassist in 2016. They were also nominated for Best New Talent at the 2014 Revolver Golden Gods. The band performed at significant music festivals such as the Vans Warped Tour, Reading and Leeds Festivals, and Slam Dunk Festival, solidifying their presence within the rock and metal scenes. Their discography further expanded with “Headspace” in 2016 and “Beautiful Oblivion” in 2019, showcasing their continued artistic development despite internal changes.
The band faced notable lineup changes and challenges, including the departure of founding members and vocalists over the years. Following a period of inactivity after 2020, Issues announced their disbandment in 2023, concluding their career with a series of farewell shows in early 2024. These final performances featured appearances from former members, celebrating their legacy and impact on their loyal fanbase. The band’s journey concluded with the release of the single “Since I Lost You” in 2024 and an upcoming double-vinyl live album, “Issues Forever.”
