Mr V

Victor Font, known professionally as Mr. V, was born in 1974 in New York City’s Lower East Side. Of Nuyorican heritage, his early exposure to the city’s diverse music scene significantly influenced his sound. In the 1990s, he began working with Louie Vega, a collaboration that shaped his fusion of hip hop and house music styles. This period marked a foundational stage in his career, leading to his eventual emergence as a respected DJ, producer, and vocalist within the dance music community. His unique approach brought a distinctive blend of raw energy and melodic depth to the genre.

Mr. V released his debut album, “Welcome Home,” in 2006 on Defected Records. The album was recognized for its portrayal of Manhattan’s musical landscape, receiving a 3-star review from The Skinny and being described as a “study in the melting pot of Manhattan sounds” by HX Magazine. A track from this album, “Da Bump,” reached number 2 on the UK Dance Chart in May 2007, marking a significant commercial milestone. Throughout his career, Mr. V has consistently focused on bringing the “heart, soul, and spirit” of dance music’s golden era to his performances and productions, emphasizing the genre’s power to unite diverse audiences.

His career progression includes notable collaborations and releases that have further cemented his standing in the industry. In 2013, he partnered with Steve Bug for “The Long Run,” which earned an 8/10 review from Mixmag. More recently, in 2016, he collaborated with Roger Sanchez to release the “6 AM” extended player, which Mixmag lauded as “big club ammo of the highest order.” Mr. V continues to manage his own labels, Sole Channel Music and Muzik 4 Tomorrow, providing a platform for his original work and that of other artists who share his vision for authentic dance music. He performs regularly at venues globally, maintaining a strong connection to the dance floor.
