Alt-J released their critically acclaimed debut album, ‘An Awesome Wave,’ in May 2012 in Europe and September 2012 in the United States, an innovative record that quickly garnered widespread recognition. Produced by Charlie Andrew, the album culminated in the band winning the prestigious British Mercury Prize in 2012, significantly raising their profile. Comprised of Joe Newman (guitar/bass/lead vocals), Thom Sonny Green (drums), and Gus Unger-Hamilton (keyboards/vocals), the band’s unique blend of indie rock, indie pop, art rock, and folktronica, developed since signing with Infectious Music in December 2011, propelled ‘An Awesome Wave’ to number 13 on the UK Albums Chart that same year. Following the success of their debut, Alt-J embarked on extensive touring, headlining major festivals including Latitude and Bestival.

Demonstrating their continued artistic evolution, the band released ‘Reduxer,’ a remix album, in September 2018. Their music has been integrated into numerous popular culture touchpoints, featuring in various films and television series, further extending their global reach and appeal. The band’s fourth studio album, ‘The Dream,’ was released in February 2022, showcasing their enduring experimental sound and artistic vision.
