Breaking Benjamin’s breakthrough came in 2001 with the track ‘Polyamorous,’ which garnered significant radio play and led to their signing with Hollywood Records in 2002. Formed in 1999 by lead singer and guitarist Benjamin Burnley and drummer Jeremy Hummel, alongside guitarist Aaron Fink and bassist Mark James Klepaski, the band released their debut album, ‘Saturate,’ in 2002. ‘Saturate’ reached No. 136 on the Billboard 200 and achieved gold certification in 2015.
‘Phobia’ debuted impressively at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and secured platinum status by 2009. Its lead single, ‘The Diary of Jane,’ was a major radio success and was later certified double platinum in 2015. Their fourth album, ‘Dear Agony,’ released in 2009, reached No.
4 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold in 2010. After a hiatus beginning in 2010, Breaking Benjamin reformed in 2014 with a new lineup featuring Aaron Bruch on bass and backing vocals, Keith Wallen on guitar and backing vocals, Jasen Rauch on guitar, and Shaun Foist on drums. This iteration released ‘Dark Before Dawn’ in 2015, which marked a career high by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and was certified gold in 2016.
Their sixth studio album, ‘Ember,’ followed in 2018, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, further cementing their consistent chart presence. The band continued to expand their discography with the acoustic compilation album, ‘Aurora,’ released in 2020. Most recently, in October 2024, Breaking Benjamin signed a new global recordings agreement with BMG, signaling an exciting new chapter.
Coinciding with this partnership, they released the single ‘Awaken,’ offering a first taste of their highly anticipated seventh studio album. The band continues to tour extensively, maintaining a strong connection with their dedicated fanbase while gearing up for future releases.
