Kid Rock released his debut album ‘Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast’ on Jive Records in 1990, following an early career cultivating his skills as a rapper and DJ in the Detroit hip-hop scene. After independent releases like ‘The Polyfuze Method’ (1993) and ‘Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp’ (1996), he formed his backing band, Twisted Brown Trucker, and signed with Atlantic Records in 1997. His breakthrough arrived with the 1998 album ‘Devil Without a Cause,’ which sold over 14 million copies and spawned hit singles ‘Bawitdaba’ and ‘Cowboy,’ solidifying his status as a genre-defying artist. Following this success, Kid Rock performed at Woodstock 1999 and made his voice acting debut on ‘The Simpsons’ the same year.
He toured for the United Service Organizations (USO) from 2007-2008 and recorded ‘Warrior’ for a National Guard advertising campaign. Kid Rock earned a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Rock Song (‘All Summer Long’) in 2009 and was honored by the NAACP in 2011. He performed a Beastie Boys tribute at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2012, released ‘Rebel Soul,’ and launched his ‘$20 Best Night Ever’ tour in 2013. He signed with Warner Bros.
Beyond music, his entrepreneurial ventures include his record label, Top Dog Records, and ‘Kid Rock’s Made in Detroit’ restaurant and bar.
