As the sole writer of the 6x platinum, multi-award-winning hit ‘If I Die Young,’ Kimberly Perry established herself as a formidable singer-songwriter, contributing significantly to the country music landscape. After refining her vocal technique with renowned coach Jan Smith Studios, Perry officially formed The Band Perry in 2005 with her brothers, embarking on a ‘New Faces of Country’ tour. Their career accelerated in 2008 when discovered by Garth Brooks’ manager, Bob Doyle, leading to a record deal with Republic Nashville in 2009. The band released their debut single ‘Hip to My Heart’ in November 2009, followed by their self-titled extended play in April 2010.
This EP expanded into a full-length album in October 2010, which featured ‘Hip to My Heart’ charting at number 20 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, and their breakthrough hit, ‘If I Die Young.’ This single became their first number one hit, was certified 6x platinum, and sold 1.6 million copies. For this solo composition, Perry received the CMA Song of the Year award in 2011, making her only the fourth woman to achieve this distinction. Throughout her tenure with The Band Perry, Perry was instrumental in achieving three number one singles and three additional top ten singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The band’s critically acclaimed second album, Pioneer, released in 2013, became their first number one album on the Top Country Albums chart.
With a strong track record of chart-topping hits and major industry awards, Kimberly Perry continues to evolve her sound while maintaining her foundational narrative as a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter.
