Lemaitre is a dynamic Norwegian indie electronic duo formed in Oslo in June 2010, consisting of Ketil Jansen and Ulrik Denizou Lund. Since their inception, they have made significant strides in the music industry, releasing a series of acclaimed EPs, including the renowned Relativity Series, which features Relativity 1, 2, 3, and Relativity by Nite. Their third EP, Relativity 2, achieved remarkable success, topping charts in Canada and the US iTunes electronic category, and securing high positions in several other countries, showcasing their global appeal and innovative sound.
In 2014, Lemaitre signed with Astralwerks Records, a label known for housing iconic artists like Daft Punk. This partnership allowed them to expand their creative horizons, leading to collaborations and remixes for other notable artists, including Porter Robinson. Their ability to blend original samples with electronic elements has garnered them praise and recognition, solidifying their place in the indie electronic scene.
The duo’s creativity continued to flourish with the release of their seventh EP, 1749, in January 2016, inspired by their home studio in Los Angeles. Following this, they embarked on a European tour, further enhancing their live performance reputation. Their first album, Chapter One, was released in June 2017, followed by their eighth EP, Fast Lovers, in March 2019, demonstrating their consistent output and evolution as artists.
Lemaitre’s music has transcended traditional platforms, featuring in major media campaigns and video games, including Apple’s iPhone 5c advert and the PlayStation 4 game Gran Turismo Sport. Their innovative approach to music and performance, including a groundbreaking live concert in Minecraft, showcases their commitment to pushing boundaries and engaging with fans in unique ways. With their debut album Substellar released in November 2021, Lemaitre continues to captivate audiences worldwide with their fresh sound and artistic vision.
