Lights

Lights, a Canadian musician and songwriter, embarked on her professional journey with the release of her debut album, The Listening, in 2009. This album showcased her unique electropop sound and included hit singles like “Drive My Soul” and “Saviour,” which propelled her into the spotlight. The success of The Listening, which sold over 80,000 copies and earned a gold certification in Canada, established Lights as a formidable presence in the music industry, culminating in her winning the Juno Award for New Artist of the Year.

Following her initial success, Lights continued to evolve her sound with her second album, Siberia, released in 2011. This album marked a shift towards a grittier style and featured the popular single “Toes.” Siberia received critical acclaim and was certified gold in Canada, further solidifying her reputation as a talented artist. Lights’ ability to connect with audiences was evident as she toured extensively, sharing stages with renowned acts like Owl City and Hedley.

In 2014, Lights released her third studio album, Little Machines, which debuted at No. 5 in Canada and included the chart-topping single “Up We Go.” This album showcased her growth as an artist and was followed by the innovative Skin & Earth in 2017, which was accompanied by a comic book series. Her creative approach to music and storytelling garnered widespread recognition and showcased her versatility.

Most recently, Lights released her fifth studio album, PEP, in 2022, demonstrating her continued relevance in the music scene. With a career marked by numerous awards, including multiple Juno Awards, and a dedicated fanbase, Lights remains a pioneering force in the electropop genre, continually pushing the boundaries of her artistry.
