Lil Wayne has established himself as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of his generation, known for his lyrical creativity and impact on modern rap music. After signing with Cash Money Records in 1993, Lil Wayne quickly established himself as a prolific force in hip-hop, first as part of the duo B.G.’z, releasing the album True Story in 1994. He co-founded the Southern hip-hop group Hot Boys in 1997, achieving significant recognition with their second album, Guerrilla Warfare (1999), and appearances on charting singles like B.G.’s ‘Bling Bling’ and Juvenile’s Billboard Hot 100 hit ‘Back That Azz Up.’ His solo career launched with his debut album, Tha Block Is Hot (1999), which earned RIAA platinum certification the same year. In 2024, Lil Wayne received the Key to the City from New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, with February 6th and 7th designated as ‘Lil Wayne Day.’ With over 120 million records sold worldwide and numerous Grammy, BET, Billboard, MTV, and NAACP Image Awards, he is slated to release his upcoming album, Tha Carter VI, in June 2025.
