Molchat Doma is a dynamic Belarusian post-punk band formed in 2017 in Minsk, consisting of Egor Shkutko (vocals), Roman Komogortsev (guitar, synthesizer, drum machine), and Pavel Kozlov (bass guitar, synthesizer). Their debut album, “S krysh nashikh domov” (From The Roofs of Our Houses), was self-released in April 2017, showcasing their unique sound that blends post-punk, new wave, and synth-pop. The album quickly gained traction, leading to a re-release through Detriti Records, which helped solidify their presence in the European music scene.
In 2018, Molchat Doma released their second album, “Etazhi” (Floors), further establishing their reputation with tracks like “Kommersanty” (Businessmen). The band’s music gained significant popularity through platforms like YouTube and Bandcamp, where their sound resonated with a growing audience. By the end of 2019, they had amassed millions of listeners, particularly outside their home country, highlighting their international appeal.
The band’s career took a pivotal turn in 2020 when they signed with Sacred Bones Records, which reissued their earlier works in North America. Their third studio album, “Monument,” released in November 2020, featured the hit single “Ne smeshno” (Not Funny), further elevating their status in the global music landscape. Their participation in notable festivals, including Coachella, showcased their growing influence and popularity.
In 2024, Molchat Doma announced their fourth album, “Belaya Polosa” (White Stripe), continuing to innovate and captivate audiences with their sound. Their music, often associated with the ‘doomer’ genre, resonates deeply with listeners, characterized by introspective lyrics and a haunting atmosphere. With each release, Molchat Doma solidifies their position as a leading force in contemporary post-punk music.
