María Victoria Ramírez de Arellano Cardona, known professionally as Young Miko, was born on November 8, 1997, in Añasco, Puerto Rico. Before her music career, she pursued visual arts and worked as a tattoo artist for four years to support herself and fund her early studio expenses. In 2018, she began uploading original songs to SoundCloud, developing her unique sound.
Her career gained initial traction with her debut EP, “Trap Kitty,” released in 2022, showcasing her blend of Latin trap, reggaetón, and hip-hop. In 2023, she achieved wider recognition with the single “Classy 101,” a collaboration with Feid, which entered the Billboard Hot 100. This period also saw collaborations with artists such as Villano Antillano, Jowell & Randy, and Bad Gyal. In April 2023, her label, The Wave Music Group, signed a long-term distribution agreement with Capitol Music Group. Her debut studio album, “Att.,” released in April 2024, included collaborations with Feid, Jowell & Randy, Villano Antillano, Elena Rose, and Dei V, and peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums and number 129 on the Billboard 200. The album’s release was followed by a performance at Coachella in 2024.
Young Miko has received various awards and nominations, including winning Best New Latin Artist at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards and New Artist of the Year at the 2024 Latin American Music Awards. Her track “Classy 101” won Global Latin Song of the Year and Best Urban Collaboration at the 2024 Latin American Music Awards. She also won Best Caribbean Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in both 2023 and 2024. Young Miko embarks on her XOXO Tour in 2024, with performances across North and Central America, and has been an opening act for artists like Karol G on the Mañana Será Bonito Tour in 2023 and Billie Eilish on the Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour in 2025. Her public identity as an openly lesbian artist has also been noted as enhancing visibility within the music industry. Her career highlights include a Grammy nomination in 2025 for Best Música Urbana Album with “Att.” and a Latin Grammy nomination in 2024 for Best Urban Fusion/Performance for “Young Miko: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 58.
