Adam Met is a musician, academic, and climate activist, known as the bassist for the band AJR. He leverages his platform to advocate for climate policy and sustainable practices, working with organizations and teaching at Columbia University. After co-founding the indie pop band AJR with his brothers Jack and Ryan in 2005, Adam Met built the band’s initial audience by busking in Central Park and Washington Square Park starting in 2006. Concurrently, he pursued an academic path, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Philosophy from Columbia University in 2012.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental and social causes, Met founded Planet Reimagined in 2018. This non-profit organization actively focuses on renewable energy policies, sustainable music touring practices, and youth climate advocacy. Through this platform, he has collaborated with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on key sustainability projects and provided expert counsel to policymakers on clean energy initiatives, including critical input on the Inflation Reduction Act. Expanding his influence in academia, Met joined Columbia University as an adjunct professor in 2023, where he teaches specialized courses on sustainability and climate policy.
Met’s impactful contributions to climate advocacy have garnered significant recognition, leading to his inclusion in the prestigious TIME100 ‘Climate list’ in 2024. He was also honored with the ‘Earth Award’ at the TIME100 Next Gala in 2024 and named a Changemaker by The New York Times, underscoring his influence across both music and environmental policy. Looking ahead, Met is set to release his highly anticipated book, ‘Amplify,’ in 2025, which will be followed by an extensive ‘Amplify Book Tour’ across major cities.
