After winning gold in her debut at the European Taekwondo Championships in Sofia in 2021, Adriana Cerezo Iglesias secured an Olympic silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, notably at 17 years old. In the Women’s -49 kg event, Cerezo made a significant impact by defeating two-time Olympic gold medalist Wu Jingyu, before narrowly losing to Panipak Wongpattanakit in a highly competitive final.
