Amrull developed an interest in the drag scene at sixteen, influenced by the goth and punk subcultures in Los Angeles nightclubs. He attended university for two years, initially studying art before pursuing a career in make-up artistry. His professional career as a makeup artist began to grow, leading to collaborations with notable figures in entertainment and fashion.
In 2011, Amrull achieved wider recognition as Raja Gemini, winning the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. His drag persona was noted for its fashion and runway presence, securing his position as a prominent contestant. Concurrently, Amrull served as a primary make-up artist for America’s Next Top Model, contributing to cycles four through twelve. His work as a make-up artist has included celebrity clients such as Tyra Banks, Iman, Dita Von Teese, RuPaul, and Pamela Anderson. His career expanded into music, with the release of singles like ‘Diamond Crowned Queen,’ which charted on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs.
Since 2014, Amrull has co-hosted the weekly YouTube series “RuPaul’s Drag Race Fashion Photo Ruview” on the WowPresents channel. He also made a guest appearance as himself on the 2018 Simpsons episode “Werking Mom.” In 2017, he featured in Blondie’s “Fun” music video and participated in campaigns for brands like Diesel and Urban Decay.
