Al Toon

Al Toon distinguished himself as an NFL wide receiver before transitioning into successful entrepreneurial ventures and community leadership. After earning first-team All-Big Ten honors in 1983 and 1984 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Al Toon established a multi-sport collegiate career, setting school records for receptions (131), receiving yards (2,103), and touchdown catches (19). Demonstrating exceptional athleticism, Toon won three Big Ten triple jump titles, became an All-American in the triple jump, and qualified for the Olympic Trials in both the 110 High Hurdles and the Triple Jump in 1983. His achievements culminated in being named Wisconsin’s Male Athlete of the Year in 1984.

He continued to dominate in 1988, leading the entire NFL with 93 receptions for 1,067 yards and five touchdowns, garnering another Pro Bowl and All-Pro recognition. Throughout his tenure, Toon amassed 517 receptions for 6,605 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns. He retired in November 1992 following medical advice due to nine career concussions, and in 2011, he was inducted into the New York Jets Ring of Honor. Following his decorated athletic career, Toon transitioned into a successful and diverse entrepreneurial journey.

In 1995, he co-founded Capitol Bank, also serving on its board of directors. Expanding his business portfolio, he developed the AT8 Companies to manage extensive commercial real estate holdings. Toon further diversified as a franchisee for major national brands, including Taco Bell and Hilton Garden Inn. Since 1992, he has also been a strategic investor in various Wisconsin Burger King Franchise companies, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to the restaurant industry.

Through these multifaceted roles, Toon continues to leverage his leadership and business acumen.
