AJ MacGinty has transitioned from a developing talent in Irish rugby to a key international fly-half for the United States, showcasing consistent performance across club and national stages. After making his debut for the USA Eagles in July 2015 against Samoa, Alan ‘AJ’ MacGinty rapidly established himself as a pivotal international fly-half for the United States, showcasing consistent performance across elite club and national stages. MacGinty honed his skills within the American rugby system, playing for NYAC in 2011. He then pursued a master’s degree in Sport Health Science at Life University from 2012 to 2015, playing a key role for the Life Running Eagles.

His standout performance drew the attention of USA Rugby High Performance, leading to his national team selection. Following his debut, MacGinty represented the USA Eagles at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, marking his first appearance on rugby’s global stage. Building on his Rugby World Cup experience, MacGinty secured a professional contract with Connacht for the 2015–16 Pro12 season, where he played an instrumental role in the team’s historic Pro12 final win in 2016, securing their first-ever silverware. This immediate impact propelled him into England’s top flight, as he signed with Premiership Rugby side Sale Sharks in 2016.
