Alberto Ammann

Alberto Ammann was born in Córdoba, Argentina, on October 20, 1978, the son of journalist, politician, and writer Luis Alberto Ammann and Nelida Rey. His family moved to Spain between 1978 and 1982 to escape Argentina’s military dictatorship, returning to Argentina in 1982. Ammann later returned to Spain to pursue acting, studying with Guillermo Iani and Jolie Lobois at the Juan Carlos Corazza Acting Studio, building a foundation for his career in both countries.

Ammann’s career breakthrough occurred in 2009 with his role in the film “Cell 211.” This performance earned him a Goya Award for Best New Actor and a Spanish SAG Award, establishing him as a notable talent. Following this success, he took on diverse roles, including the title character in “Lope” (2010), a science fiction film “Eva” (2011) alongside Daniel Bruhl, and the thriller “Invader” (2012). His global recognition expanded through his role as Pacho Herrera in the Netflix series “Narcos” (2015-2017) and “Narcos: Mexico” (2018-2021).

Throughout his career, Ammann has demonstrated capability across various genres in both film and television. He also appeared in “Mindscape” (2013), his first English-speaking role, and portrayed scientist Javier Delgado in the second season of “Mars.” His recent work includes “Upon Entry” (2022) and “Griselda” (2024), where he played Alberto Bravo. His contributions to film and television have been acknowledged with multiple awards and nominations, showcasing a consistent professional trajectory.
