Amber Valletta was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on February 9, 1974. Her career in fashion began at the age of 15, after her mother enrolled her in modeling school. By 17, she was discovered and quickly rose to prominence in the 1990s as a supermodel, a period characterized by the ‘heroin chic’ aesthetic. During this time, Valletta appeared on the cover of American Vogue 13 times, establishing her as one of the most recognizable faces of her generation. She frequently collaborated with renowned designers, gracing runways for Versace, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Valentino, Gucci, and Escada.
