Just a few years ago, Amos Mosaner was a farm worker. Nowadays, he is a full-time curler — and a very successful one at that. Representing his native Italy, he won Olympic gold in the mixed doubles at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. It was the biggest addition yet to his growing trophy cabinet, which also includes bronze medals from the World and European Curling Championships and a medal from the Winter Youth Olympics back in 2012.
Mosaner was born in the northern Italian city of Trento in March 1995. He first represented Italy in curling as a junior in 2012. As well as winning silver at that year’s Youth Olympics, he competed in four consecutive World Junior Curling Championships, skipping the Italian team for three of them. Such was his talent that he was also chosen to skip the senior men’s team at the 2013 European Championships. His first senior success came five years later when the team took bronze at the 2018 European Championships — Italy’s first Euro medal for nearly 40 years.
After forming a partnership with his romantic partner, Alice Cobelli, Mosaner won the national Mixed Doubles Curling Championships in 2020. After a break on the sport imposed by the pandemic, with his other professional partner, Stefania Constantini, triumphed in the mixed doubles at the Winter Olympics in Beijing in early 2022. The victory took Mosaner to the very pinnacle of his sport.
