Andy Lee transitioned from a decorated amateur boxer to a WBO middleweight world champion, now serving as a respected trainer and boxing commentator. After earning a silver medal at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Santiago de Cuba while representing Ireland, Andy Lee built a distinguished amateur boxing career. He secured a bronze medal at the 2004 European Amateur Championships in Pula, Croatia, qualifying him for the 2004 Summer Olympics, and also earned a silver at the EU Amateur Championships the same year. Lee further demonstrated his prowess by winning the Irish senior amateur middleweight title three times between 2003 and 2005.
He turned professional in 2006, signing with acclaimed trainer-manager Emanuel Steward to train at the Kronk Gym. Lee made his professional debut on March 10, 2006, at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, securing a points decision victory over Anthony Cannon. Lee quickly established himself, earning the Irish Super-middleweight title in December 2007. Despite an early career setback with a TKO loss to Brian Vera in March 2008, Lee relentlessly pursued success, building an impressive record with 24 knockouts among his 35 professional victories.
In 2018, Lee published his autobiography, ‘Fighter’, further cementing his legacy in the sport. Since his retirement from the ring, Lee has seamlessly transitioned into a highly respected trainer and boxing commentator. He served as an assistant-trainer for heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in 2020, and as trainer for former WBO Heavyweight Champion Joseph Parker from 2021 to 2022. Andy Lee continues to serve as a prominent boxing pundit and commentator for DAZN Boxing, providing expert analysis for major fights to a global audience.
