Christian hip-hop artist Andy Mineo has been in the game since his early teens. His three solo albums to date (Heroes for Sale, Uncomfortable, and Never Land 2) were all huge hits, particularly in the US Christian Charts. His many EPs, mixtapes, singles, and collaborations have also enjoyed major success. His music and message are Christian but he is by no means a niche artist: Uncomfortable made the Billboard Top 10 and his 2014 EP Never Land made the Billboard Top 20 and got to number two in the Rap Charts.
Mineo was born in 1988 and converted to Christianity after hearing God’s message at a summer camp aged 13. Before long, he’d embarked on making music. He drifted from his faith during his high school and joined the hip-hop group Food Camp, who released one album and opened for major acts like The Roots, Jadakiss, Common, and Dead Prez. During his first year of college, however, he reconnected with Christ, and like a true disciple, closed the studio he had opened, left Food Camp, and dedicated his life to God.
Music was never far away, however, and Mineo later released his debut mixtape Sin is Wack. He began building his reputation as a solo artist through live performances across America and a popular webseries in which he remixed classic hip-hop tracks. His 2013 debut album, Heroes for Sale, was a massive hit, topping the US Christian and Gospel charts, reaching number 2 in the UK Christian charts and number 11 on the Billboard 200. His most recent release, 2021’s Never Land 2, achieved similar success, proving his music is as durable as it is popular.
